Police have arrested a leader of Jatiya Party’s ally Juba Sanghati with a revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition in Ibandha.
He was arrested from his home in Madhya Paran village of Shantiram union in Sundarganj upazila on Tuesday morning and sent to jail through a court in the afternoon.
The arrested was identified as Golam Rabbani Rubel, 33, son of Rafiqul Islam of the village and convener of the Upazila Youth Union. Sundarganj Police Station OC Abdullahil Zaman said RAB arrested Mahabur Rahman, son of Akbar Ali Teli of Shantiram village in the upazila, from Balarchhira on February 21 in 21 cases including sabotage and weapons. Mahabur was remanded for 3 days on February 22. He said Rubel was later arrested with a revolver on the basis of information provided by Mahabur.
He further said that Inspector (Investigation) of Sundarganj Police Station Bulbul Islam has filed a case under Section 19 (a) of the Arms Act, 18.
The investigating officer in the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) Selim Reza, said they found out that Rubel had been carrying the revolver in a special pocket of his pants for a long time. Sometimes Mahabur would take the revolver from him.
